Alliance Creativity Group

We use games and exercises that develop advanced creativity and collaborative communication skills. By playing the games you learn the skills. Technically, the skills are integrated into your nervous system. Therefore the skills are used in life.

Our techniques include improvisation games, a group problem-solving technique modelled on the thought processes of professional inventors, Creative Conversations, Tai Chi, Aikido, Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). These are adapted to your unique situation.

We offer events, workshops, coaching and training for

· Conferences · Team building · Solving tough problems · Cultivating emotional resilience

Conferences

Our creativity games are fun and engaging. They lift the tone of the conference by making it okay to be playful and imaginative.

Team building

The essence of a well-functioning team is respect, support for individual initiative, common purpose and collaborative communication. Our creativity games make these qualities operational. Often people don't behave better with each other because they don't know how to - so we build the skills. The payoff is enhanced enthusiasm and better ideas.

Solving tough problems

Sometimes individuals and groups get stuck. They have a challenging problem, but the obvious lines of solution don't seem to work. A fresh approach is needed.

We help you crack the impasse by scanning the big picture, focusing on a point of change, and then deliberately playing with ideas and images that take you away from the problem. This creative process, commonly used by professional inventors, gives you unusual access to the full range of knowledge, experience and imagination in your group. The result is that your creativity gets activated, and surprising lines of solution appear.

This approach is very sophisticated; we only recommend it for tough problems.

Cultivating emotional resilience

Let's face it. Yucky stuff goes on in most groups. It drains energy, saps productivity, increases stress and dampens enthusiasm. People cope, but in today's world that is not good enough. We need to be enthusiastically resilient, not just enduring.

We teach effective ways to sort out such counter-productive dynamics. They are not perfect (people won't change if they aqre unwilling to), but they can go far towards shifting the group climate and resolving issues.

Your facilitators

We have a team of trained facilitators who collaborate for large events. However, our two primary facilitators are Andrew Gaines and Nigel Bell.

Andrew Gaines

Andrew Gaines is the convenor of the Alliance for Sustainable Wellbeing. He is deeply committed to creative collaboration. He is the author of Creative Conversations, and has more than 20 years experience as a creativity facilitator.

Nigel Bell

Nigel Bell is the director of ECOdesign, an ecological design firm in the Blue Mountains outside of Sydney. He is an experienced facilitator who is skilful with all aspects of the creative process.
